Breast intertrigo is an extremely uncomfortable,
unsightly, (and sometimes malodorous) rash that shows up under the breast
(especially on large-breasted women).
“Simple” Breast Intertrigo is a dermatitis caused by
moisture, perspiration, heat, friction between skin folds, lack of air
circulation, and wearing a certain kind of bra. The combination of warm
temperatures, moisture, tight bras, and poor ventilation makes the perfect
breeding grounds for the growth of germs, fungi, and bacteria… and these
microorganisms multiply before infecting the breast tissue. After that, breast skin rash spreads, and sometimes it’ll bleed. The majority of intertrigo cases
are caused by Candida fungi, and this
infection is called Candidal Intertrigo.
Most of the time, intertrigo looks similar to
psoriasis (the autoimmune disease that forms red patches with a buildup of
white blood cells). However, unlike psoriasis, intertrigo can produce pink (and
even brown) patches, and also causes a really bad odor (in very severe cases).
Symptoms of intertrigo include itching and burning in the underside of your
breasts (breast skin rash, breast skin burn).
The treatment for breast intertrigo isn’t complicated
at all. The first step is to make sure to thoroughly wash (and dry) the
affected area every day. Then, you’ve got to keep the underside of your breasts
dry and ventilated (otherwise, you’ll feed the fungi and bacteria living in
your skin). Remember to not wear
tight bras, and avoid wearing underwired bras, because they aggravate the
situation and perpetuate the infection. Finally, you need to apply antifungal
(or antibiotic, depending on what caused the infection) cream to the affected
area – you may also want to use a cream that protects your skin.
However, the quickest, fastest, and most effective
solution for breast intertrigo (and finally getting rid of that annoying breast skin rash)… is… to simply wear a special cushion that negates skin-to-skin
contact in the underside of your breasts, keeps the area dry and clean
(regardless of perspiration), and makes it impossible for
the underside of your breasts to become the breeding grounds of fungi and bacteria.
